Hello, I'm Nicole Rizzuto, a former NBSTSA certified surgical technologist, seasoned artist, and licensed tattoo artist specializing in medical tattooing since 2019 in New York. I am passionate about merging the worlds of medicine and art in my career.
In my early years, I delved into body art tattooing through a private apprenticeship, recognizing my deep passion for art. Seeking further education, I returned to school in upstate New York for Fine and Commercial Arts, focusing on figure and human anatomy drawing, color theory/design, photography, and sculpture.
My journey into the medical field began with a rare kidney cancer diagnosis at 24, leading to two major surgeries and the eventual removal of my kidney. This transformative experience inspired me to pursue a career in the operating room, driven by a desire to give back the compassion and kindness I received as a patient.
Graduating third in my class from Ulster BOCES Surgical Technology program, I honed my skills at Kaiser Permanent in Hollywood, California, working across various specialties, including orthopedics, trauma, plastic reconstruction, oncology, neurosurgeries, and robotic surgeries.
In 2018, my exposure to medical tattooing arose from conversations with plastic surgeons recognizing the need for postoperative breast reconstruction nipple tattooing.
Driven by a passion to set standards for medical tattooing, I founded and launched the Alliance of Medical Tattooing alongside a collective of tattoo artists and professionals. This initiative aims to bring together professionals in the field, fostering collaboration and setting benchmarks for excellence. With a background in surgical procedures and artistic skills, I believe I can be a valuable asset to individuals, especially breast cancer patients or those with skin imperfections. Medical tattooing has the power to restore confidence and transform how individuals feel in their skin.
For FIVE years, being a part of patients' surgical journeys, I am now privileged to provide the "final touches" in their path through medical tattooing. As one of the last people patients see, I aim to bring a sense of wholeness and transformation to their lives. Art has the power to heal, and I am dedicated to making a positive impact.
